Hi everyone,

It’s been great to keep up to date with you all on Showbie and I’m so proud of the amazing work that you’re all doing! Lots of you have been online this week, in fact I think it’s been our busiest week ever – we can tell it’s not been sunny 🙂

First of all, some exciting news. You may remember we have shared some artwork of Akaash’s a while ago? Well his work has been accepted as a entry into the Royal Academy’s Young Artist Competition – WOW!! If it is shortlisted, then it will be exhibited at the gallery which is in London, although it’s not clear yet whether this will have to be a virtual exhibition or not. Fingers crossed for you Akaash.

While we are talking about Art, I found out today that we have a secret talent in our very own Mrs Shortall. As a way of relaxing and keeping her mind busy, she decided to use an app on the iPad called Brushes. She first copied a Franz Marc painting……and her daughter Lilly then asked her to have a go at drawing a selfie she had taken…..just look at this, it is simply fantastic! Well done Mrs Shortall.

Here are some highlights from the other fantastic work that our pupils have been doing this week…

Here is a video of Tommy with his home made assault course that he designed and built after being challenged by his teacher…it’s great isn’t it?

Mia and Tommy took part in a scavenger hunt with their families…..they have designed and made their own Easter Eggs…..there have been Science experiments…..and lots of fun making dens..

Mia has filmed a lovely message to all her friends in Class 5 when she was missing them at home..

Owen, Marley, Szymon, Zoe and Jasmine in Class 1 have all been really busy this week learning about Outer Space, doing crosswords and wordsearches. We have seen Jaydan accessing the Maths apps and Connor has been doing some reading on Epic, which is proving to be a really popular new app.

Joseph has been planting sunflowers and tomatoes with his brothers…his mum said they are already being competitive about whose is going to grow the tallest, so watch this space.

Tommy’s lockdown picture that he made with his family is lovely isn’t it? He told us that baby Bobby is 10 weeks old already, I bet he is getting big now Tommy.

Rylan’s Grandma has told us that he has been dancing and singing to Go Noodle and she is going deaf with the Milkshake song – sorry Grandma!

I also have news of a competition that you are all invited to take part in, a DT challenge which opens next week across the Trust but I have the details of here. Staff will be sharing the new Showbie group code for the competition next week.

I’d just like to thank Mrs Coulbeck in the office who has been so busy helping many of you sort out the free school meal vouchers. I know there have been some issues with the website, which isn’t surprising given the huge numbers they are dealing with, but if you do encounter any problems please do let us know so that we can help you to sort it out.

Well, I really hope it isn’t going to be too long before we are all back together. I know some people are finding it more difficult than others – I think everyone is having up and down days – but please stay strong, stay safe and stay inside, because the more we do that, the sooner things will start to return to normal hopefully.

Take care,

Miss Thomason
Head of School
