Phew, we made it….and thankfully, without having to close our bubble! The first half term back is always a shock to the system, but even more so after missing the entire Summer term last year. We have had a few members of staff and children having to self-isolate as a precaution, but no positive test results within school. Let’s hope it stays that way…

We haven’t really stopped again this week –

Class 1 spent a lovely day at Manor Park in Glossop. They fed the ducks and went on the skatepark with the scooters..

They made smoothies with our @Citc Lifestyles coach Jordan..

..and ended the week with an early celebration of Marley’s birthday, which is next week. Mrs Fisher has nearly perfected her head stand in Yoga – she has been practising all week and has the bruises to prove it! 10/10 for perseverance Mrs Fisher!

Class 2 have had fun making their rockets and took them outside to spray them – they look great!

In readiness for their trip out to a local reservoir, Mr Cruz based a Maths lesson around making their own sandwiches for lunch. They look tasty!

I don’t think they had banked on eating them sheltered under branches trying to dodge the rain though, it was definitely a very soggy walk around Piethorn Reservoir, but a good time was had by all.

Class 2 also said farewell to Harry today as he has gone to join the Y7s at our Upper School. We will miss him so much and wish him the best of luck.

Class 3 have been busy making some solar system models. They have also made fruit smoothies with City, which smelt wonderful. They had a great afternoon at Heaton Park and have been very busy with all things Halloween themed. Here is Kayleb showing you his pumpkin – isn’t it great?

With all the pumpkin flesh that they cut away, Mrs Pulman made a beautiful pumpkin soup for the children to try the next day and they used all the seeds and stringy bits to make this pumpkin slime! Eric did brilliantly learning his spellings again and Harley is now able to read the first 1000 sight words – wow Harley, that’s just amazing!

Class 4 are one of the classes that’s been affected by absences this week due to people isolating, but they’ve managed to have some early Halloween celebrations too. They made these great witches faces and we managed to wrap Tyler up too to look like a zombie…I don’t think he was that keen?!

Class 5 have had a wonderful last week to the half term, here in the sandpit are Rylan and Harry..

They had a lovely walk to the park and here you can see Mia coming out of the slide..

Sebastian had plenty of opportunities to show off his great gymnastic skills too..

Back in school they have been learning all about the names for different body parts, Bailey has been writing his number words, and everyone has been busy spelling words with the magnetic letters..

At playtime, it looks like someone has trapped Tommy by building the bricks around him!

They have also ended the week with a Halloween party, making lots of lovely crafts..

..and mixing their own gruesome, yucky, spooky potions – eugh!!!

They have also done some baking and made some great spider crispie cakes – Harry made one just for me and I had it tonight with a cup of tea – thank you Harry!

That’s it from me this week. I’m hoping that I, along with all the staff team, are able to take a well earned rest this week. Please all stay safe, and we will see everyone back in school on Monday 2nd November.
