This term IB’s topic is ‘Picnics’ and we have been hard at work already, travelling around in our very own humpy, bumpy campervan as you can see..
We are visiting different places every week – the park, the fairground, Buckingham Palace, the Chelsea Flower Show, Glastonbury and Wimbledon. We will be making choices as to what we want to pack in our campervan and making a picnic with snacks that relate to the different places we visit.
We took advantage of the beautiful weather last week and began our topic with a picnic in the yard..
We counted equipment and did some place setting for maths..
We made choices as to which snacks we wanted and which games to play..
We explored our clothing box to find appropriate clothing for the sunshine..
In art and craft we painted our campervan a beautiful bright red. We each dressed up so that Miss Warner could put our pictures on the bus – Miss Warner obviously won’t go anywhere without her nutella..
Miss Brierley her jam doughnuts and Mrs Mills her bottle of water that she never puts down..
Mrs Dickinson her lipstick (which is a closely guarded secret that we’re not allowed to share with you) and Mrs Fletcher just her pretty self..
We each took it in turns to go over the humpy bumpy road..
“We’re riding in a campervan, a bumpy humpy campervan. We’re riding in a campervan to places near and far.”
Emily especially liked pressing the switch to hear the campervan horn!
Our first stop on the journey was the park, and what a beautiful afternoon we had!
The birds were singing and the sun was shining..
We played ball games..
..threw frisbees..
..and had a LOT of fun with water pistols..
We all did some fantastic choice making and turn taking. There were no swings in the park but Miss Warner wanted us all to experience what it feels like to swing so when we got back we made our own..
Logan and Sam belly laughed all the way through their turns on our blanket swing, it was great fun!!
You can always find an ice cream van in the park too, so Miss Warner decided we would make some and not just ordinary ice cream but ice cream in a bag! We each took it in turns to weigh and measure out ingredients..
We used pictures to find the correct equipment and followed simple instructions but the really fun part was at the end – for the ice cream to thicken it had to be tossed from one person to another..
The bag was freezing!!
Miss Warner, Mrs Mills and Mrs Dickinson helped us to catch it..
..and then it was time to dish up! Leah, Sam and Logan loved the ice cream..
Another group made Angel Delight ice lollies which were delicious!!!

We’ve even found time this week to fit in some excellent work in our walkers and standing frames..
The next stop on our campervan tour is the fairground! Roll up, roll up, there’ll be a prize for everyone – catch up with the excitement next week!! 🙂
