I want to start this week’s blog by congratulating Leicester on winning their first Premier League title at odds of 5000/1. I’m sure, at the beginning of the season, everyone thought that they were utter rubbish. This achievement by Leicester should give people belief that they can achieve their dreams.

Another week has passed in the world of New Bridge. Thankfully the Bank Holiday Monday has given us an extra day to recuperate in what is turning out to feel like one of the longest terms ever. Yet we still have four weeks to go which includes Year 11’s week away in Hafan y Mor.

Sunday saw our visit to MBi Shay Stadium to watch Halifax play their Kingstone Press Championship game against Workington. Arriving at the stadium, it is clear that it is an outstanding facility for this league. On to the game; it was a riveting contest that finished 36-32 to the home side. Halifax’s inability to play for the full 80 minutes contributed to the strong second half comeback for Workington after a scoreline of 30-10 at half time. It was a great afternoon and I want to thank Scott Murrell for the tickets as well as Mr Greenway (who I’ve just realised is receiving far too many mentions on the blog lately), as well as Mr Lawrence for taking us..

Last week was slightly mad. We had snow on the tops which was more of an awkward disturbance than it was fun. We also saw Activ8 push Nathan up hills, through mud and basically every sort of problematic terrain you can name during our Duke of Edinburgh’s expedition training. It was really hard work physically and my back was extremely sore while I was laid in bed that evening. However, the aim of a D. of E. expedition is for everyone to complete it together and there is nothing more rewarding than this.

Now, I have not been the biggest fan of school meals in the past but the school dinners recently have been AMAZING! I want to thank Nigel and his staff for their hard service in cooking our lunches. Someone said to me the other week that I should organise a ‘Head Boy’s Honours List’ at the end of term! I didn’t know what to say. Having seen Mr Quinn’s blog on Friday regarding his ‘UK Tour’, however, a ‘Head Boy’s Tour’ may not be a bad idea (at least mine would have a tour bus). If you have any ideas, please feel free to tell me!

Have a good week,

Matthew
