I’d like to start the blog this week by thanking all my close friends from the Scouts, my family and friends and fellow peers and teachers for congratulating me on my first blog. I was very happy to hear that it was one of the most successful blogs so far with an amazing 2000 views and 70 likes!
We had a very action packed week which saw the girls’ football team, Children in Need, snow and much more. We started the week with our New Bridge girls’ football team going off to the Manchester City Training complex (the greatest training facility in the UK) and it was great to hear that the girls won a few matches and never gave up on the team spirit when losing. A big well done to all the girls who took part, keep it up because we might have to organise a game against our boys’ team….
Wednesday saw our Activ8 DofE session where we went to Carrbrook in Stalybridge and went on to the quarry which had a great view of Stalybridge. The boys were working on map reading for their Bronze practice, the younger boys have enjoyed it and are looking forward to a unforgettable experience on their expedition but I won’t be with them as I’ve already completed my Gold Award. Then the afternoon saw our weekly rugby league session with Mr Greenway practising our kicking drills with kicking into touch and kicking a 40-20 which is one of the hardest kicks in the game!
This year for our Children in Need day we wore non-uniform for the day for the donation of £1 and we also held a sweet cone sale for £2 and sold biscuits baked by students all over the school in life skills. We had a bit of snow but that didn’t stop the school from staying open so we continued our day without disruptions.
I forgot to mention last week I had the honour of attending the main Remembrance Parade in London, the same one with the royal family and very important politicians. I was also honoured to attend the weekend with my home Scout group, 339th Droylsden, which I’ve been with for 10 years! The one thing I was most proud of was the scouts’ behaviour throughout the weekend, they did the troop very proud.
Hope you all enjoy your week!
Jack
