A group of young people from New Bridge were invited to play in a table cricket tournament at Old Trafford cricket ground yesterday organised by the LCCC Foundation – a very proud Mr Smith brings us his report of the day..
Our team were very excited to take part in the competition with 10 schools competing in total. As the eagle-eyed among you might notice, the day was even more fun as we all got into the Christmas spirit..
Table cricket allows young people with physical impairments to access cricket and feel part of a team and enjoy a competition in a fun environment..
The game is played on a table tennis sized table and everything is on a much smaller scale..
Our young people loved the event, they really enjoyed the competition and the social aspect of the game, speaking to other students from different schools..
As ever, all of our team did New Bridge proud, playing some outstanding cricket and showing good sportsmanship after each game. I was really pleased with all the young people’s performance and behaviour. Well done, everyone!!!
