Mr Greenway brings us another update from our Key Stage 5 sports pathway..
Activ8 have had another action packed week, they have been busy planning activities to lead at both Hollinwood Academy and New Bridge School next week, a big grudge rugby match took place, they tackled problem solving activities, put in some hard work at the gym and a managed few laughs along the way..
Wednesday saw our end of term ‘Activ8 Grand Final’ where the boys put their rugby skills to the test in a friendly game between themselves. The game was billed as the ‘battle of the blogs’ with the team captains being our two intrepid reporters Jack and Matthew. There was a pre-match press conference in which we had a celebrity appearance from Connor McGregor no less, soda water to spray around for the winners and a game played with both excellent skill and fantastic spirit. I shall leave the boys to report on the game itself but the rugby on show was of an excellent standard and the boys played with a great spirit and finished with hugs and handshakes..
Thursday saw the boys visit the gym at OCL. They’ve quickly become accustomed to the facilities and are making full use of the high tech machines..
..although some of the boys seem to be spending as much time choosing which YouTube video to watch as they exercise as they they do working out..
All their hard work is starting to pay off now and is showing on the boys Fit Bit reports each week..
Thursday afternoon then saw the boys undertake some team challenges with the Commando Joe’s programme visiting school. Trying to work their way through a minefield without touching the floor really put their problem solving skills to the test but through hard work, determination, communication and team work the boys negotiated their way through..
Next week the boys are leading some Christmas themed games for groups of pupils in both Hollinwood Academy and New Bridge School so keep your eyes peeled for more updates from there…!!
