This week in DIGIT4LL has seen the culmination of our Young Enterprise seasonal project for Valentine’s Day. Students on the IT pathway have been marketing, producing and selling chocolate filled wine glasses for sale. There were many tasks involved, from researching the cost of individual items such as wine glasses, chocolates, glitter, glue, ribbon to purchasing the items, designing the posters, sending out emails, creating the product and handling money at trading events. As you can see from the photos, the students have been hard at work!

This week Luke, Tom, Mitchell and Sophie set up a trading stall at the Trafford Centre and competed with other schools and colleges..

Although the trading event wasn’t our best in terms of the number of products we sold, the students really developed their social and presentation skills when interacting with customers. On the whole, the Enterprise is proving very successful with the total profit now being over £1,200 since September..

Elsewhere Lewis, Joshua, Eliot and Luke sold shares in the Enterprise to the New Bridge Group staff. All the shareholders will now be kept updated with how their shares are helping the Enterprise and more importantly what the return might be by the end of the academic year..

Finally, a huge well done needs to go to the three brave students, Tom, Jordan and Mitchell, who completed the ‘Dragon’s Den Presentation’ at a boardroom at the GMEX Centre in Manchester. As you can see from their faces it was a terrifying experience but one which will give them great confidence moving forward in the rest of their lives..

As Mitchell put it, “Going through that horrendous experience of Dragon’s Den means nothing will fear me ever again.

Mr Bright would like to say a huge ‘thank you!’ to all the staff and students involved with Key Stage 5 DIGIT4LL for all their hard work and a very successful half term.
