This week it has been the turn of our new Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s group to tackle their practice expedition along the Derwent Heritage Trail.
Wednesday saw our intrepid young people head off to the Peak District with everything packed and ready – having successfully completed their Bronze Award last year, they knew what was in store! They set off from Bamford to the campsite at Calver..
Each group carried equipment appropriate to them to complete the journey safely and in some comfort (but not too much!). The weather conditions varied from warm to cool with rain late at night..
Camping was at Calver where tents were put up, warm food prepared and tired bodies rested.
After packing up all their equipment the group then set off along the watery expanse of the Ladybower Reservoir on Thursday..
Mr Taylor says the expedition was a great accomplishment and he is delighted with the fabulous effort of everyone involved.
We are very grateful to all the staff for making this very special event possible – we hope they have managed to get some rest and catch up on all that sleep!
