This week the blog has been written by Mrs Roberts following some work we have done with other schools..

After weeks of requests from Regan and Jake and a lot of behind the scenes work by myself and Mr Hopkins, we finally managed to arrange a football match against another school.

MAPA (Manchester Alternative Provision Academy) came to the Hollinwood site on Wednesday morning and the pupils played an hour’s football, switching between a Key Stage 4 and a Key Stage 3 team..

Key Stage 4 thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were an absolute delight, they conducted themselves amazingly! For most of these Key Stage 4 boys, this was the first time they had been taken to a sporting event against another school. The boys interacted with pupils from the other school, were polite and represented Spring Brook brilliantly. I’m really proud of Regan and Jake, I think this is a massive achievement for them.

Leon was our star player, scoring goals in both the Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 3 games. Ben and Jake both scored in matches and Ethan was a super keeper, playing in net for both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, he also played out of net and made some great runs.

Key Stage 4 Nurture Group have had a great week, they’ve been focused and settled. Jack has started looking at GCSE Maths and has completed some fantastic work – this is a massive achievement!

Jake and Regan enjoyed cooking a fry up this week, the boys were made up and the empty plates prove they enjoyed it. They also took part in a Science practical with Miss Daniels, the boys enjoyed learning about acids and alkalis and showed a good understanding.

Matthew has started painting his graffiti name this week whilst spending some time in the Nurture Group and it looks really good already!

Keep up all the hard work, you’re doing great!

Thank you to Mrs Roberts and Miss Roberts for this week’s news. Just three more weeks to go now and we have lots of things to pack in before the end of term including a celebration evening for staff and the celebrations for our Year 11 pupils.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Tootill
