What a week as always at New Bridge, with a lot of great things happening and exciting things to tell. On Tuesday the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s group went out to complete their full expedition which the Activ8 boys and others did exceptionally well in. Big congrats to them and their hard work is a credit, especially Alan who fell out of a tree and took a big whack on the nose and carried on!
Last Friday Andy’s Man Club turned a year old and they held a birthday celebration to show what a year has done for others. It was great to see guys from the Oldham group and Mr Greenway standing up and talking to a crowd of people on how it’s impacted on their lives, wish I could have been there myself and told them what it’s done for me over the last year.
On Thursday I did a late transition at Oldham Sixth Form College to get a taste of what they do and where to go in September. From taking a tour, speaking to the PE team and learning support I can finally say in September I will be going to Oldham Sixth Form for college education! Thanks Mrs Needham for taking me and Mrs Tootill for the advice!
Later that night it was the annual Sports Awards which was my final one as a pupil and it’s a night I always look forward to. The highlight of my night was Ellen winning the Swimming Endeavour Award which was well deserved, well done Ellen, such a credit!! At the end Mrs Tootill presented the final award of the night, Sports Personality of the Year – she spoke about this person highly, he was okay at sports when he first started, he was good at football but never passes but he’s come a long way and has grown into such a mature young man who’s finally had a haircut. I couldn’t believe I won it, it was something I’ve worked my full 5 years at New Bridge to achieve and I’ve finally done it! I had my Mum and Dad there to see me win it, thank you so so much to everyone. Activ8 and the sports staff, you’ll always be a family to me. This just goes to show that if you work every day to achieve your goals with hard work and dedication, you will achieve and be successful!
That’s it from me now as I need to recover from a national 24 hrs activity Scout Camp! Next week prom, time to party!!!
Have a great week from the 2017 Sports Personality of the Year!
