Welcome back to the new half term. I really enjoy this part of the school year with the build up to Christmas and the beginning of Winter.

November is the month of remembrance, a time when we think about those lost in conflict. On Thursday I was particularly lucky to venture out with the Key Stage 4 Duke of Edinburgh’s group to Pots and Pans. As I live locally, I know the trail up to the monument well. The memorial itself is dedicated to the servicemen who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.
Our group ventured up to the monument despite a freezing cold wind..

We even braved the cold and managed to sit on the rocks and eat our lunch..

As Stephen pointed out, from up there we could see lots of places that we recognised – Dovestones, the Civic Centre, the ICC and even towards the highest point of the M62..

Miss Tokelove’s group have been painting some poppies in remembrance. These pieces are stunning and we are hoping to put them up in the visitors’ reception (the old pupil/staff entrance) for everyone to see..

Well done to all our young people and to Miss Tokelove who is working on her next big project, CHRISTMAS!!!

We have to say a massive ‘thank you!’ to Tesco and Miss Roberts as we have begun our ‘Food Share’ partnership with them this week. I would have really liked to share the photos with you………but I wasn’t quick enough to get there before it had all gone!!!!

Finally, a reminder that next Friday is Children In Need day and we will be getting involved in the fundraising with a cake sale, car washing and, of course, a non-uniform/Pudsey clothes day – watch out for the pictures next time!

So, that’s all for this week. Sunday will see me venture back up Pots and Pans, a little bit older and wiser.

Have a great week,

Mrs Tootill
