Well, it seems very strange writing my blog from home this week after the ‘Beast from the East’ forced us to close Medtia on Wednesday afternoon. It is always a very difficult decision for us to make but we have to consider the safety of both students and staff and on this very rare occasion it was the right decision to close our site.
Mr Monaghan, however, braved the elements with our Year 13 students and I hear they had a very cold but wonderful week over at Calvert. I look forward to reporting back on that fully next week.
Obviously with having a shorter week, there isn’t a lot to share but I do have an update on our plans to become an independent college from September – this morning I was delighted to hear from the Department for Education (DfE) who informed me that our Stage One application had been successful. Stage One was an in depth look into our financial forecasts and basically assessed if the provision was viable. It is a really positive start for us as we are now one step closer! The next stage will include a visit by the DfE to look at our proposed site. We will have a final decision by the end of this month and I will, as always, keep you updated via this blog.
We are looking forward to getting back to normal on Monday!
I hope you all have a wonderful (and warmer) weekend,
Daniel
