Well, it’s been another busy week at Medtia for our pathways students and we have also had a professional photographer in this week to capture some of the work that we do – more about that later!
On Tuesday I had another ‘Wow!’ moment as one of our ex-students Coral was in Medtia on work placement. Coral is currently studying Film and Media Studies at Salford University and is supporting in Lumenus for a few weeks as part of her course. It was fantastic to catch up with Coral and to hear how she lives in student accommodation and is absolutely LOVING student life. Not only do we appreciate Coral’s support in class, it is also amazing once again to have such a fantastic role model in our college. Coral has worked so hard to get to university and she really does show our students that anything is possible!
On Wednesday I spent the day with Sam Jones, a photographer who has spent the week capturing the young people in all the different organisations across the New Bridge Group. This was a great opportunity to spend a day visiting our students out on placement. I drove 50 miles on Wednesday! Our students are literally working all over Manchester and it was absolutely fantastic to see how well they are all doing.

..and many more small and medium businesses across Manchester. We also took the opportunity to visit the Manchester Christmas Markets, where our Digit4ll Enterprise students had a stall and were selling their products. I really was very proud of them all… despite the torrential rain, they did a fantastic job and sold lots of products to the general public! They displayed professionalism and excellent customer service skills and really were fantastic representatives for our college. Well done to you all!

A day in the life of Bethany
Lumenus Key Stage 5This Wednesday we had a different day compared to usual. We had our final session with Chrysalis last week and this week we’ve been at New Bridge School rehearsing for the Christmas Show. Yes, that’s right, rehearsals have started and I am super excited for it to all come together!
I came to Medtia in the morning and from there Wayne the bus driver took Lumenus Key Stage 5 down to school.
Once we arrived at school we started to practise a snippet from The Greatest Showman that we have created with Lumenus Key Stage 4 too!
I am so excited to show you all this as I absolutely love the movie! I am playing the part of a lion tamer and I love playing this role, I get to have a imaginary whip!
We’re also showcasing our touring piece that we are going to perform to primary schools in January, so you will get a sneak peek at our performance!
I really enjoyed watching the Lumenus Key Stage 4 performance, I think it’s great!
We came back to Medtia at the end of the day and I feel like I’ve done a hard day’s work rehearsing..
I can’t wait for you all to see our Christmas Showcase! I hope you enjoy it just as much as I have!

This term the Key Stage 5 lads have been planning their own gym workout and circuit training with the main aim to improve strength and performance. Also, every Wednesday morning 5 students (on a rota) take part in a high intensity spinning session with Miss Rhodes for 45 minutes. All of the students are putting 100% effort in their gym sessions and we are proud of them, their hard work is paying off.
Yesterday it was their 2nd trip to Eccles for a football tournament in which our lads played three games and won all of them, displaying good sportsmanship throughout the whole competition..
They certainly did Activ8 and the whole school proud, well done!
Have a wonderful weekend – I am off to Edinburgh to visit friends. Here’s hoping it isn’t as wet and rainy as Oldham!
