EHCP Outcomes

“You don’t need to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

Martin Luther King Jr

All pupils at Spring Brook Lower Academy (SBL) have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) as a result of needs identified at their previous mainstream settings.

The primary need for all pupils is Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). Pupils have Spring Brook Academy named in their EHCPs following a consultation process with the Local Authority.

Within Section E of the EHCP are a number of outcomes to be worked towards/achieved by the end of a specified Key Stage.

This document is shared with class teachers prior to the child’s arrival at school in order that planning for learning takes account of their individual needs.

A Portfolio of Evidence –
We build a portfolio of evidence, using Dashboard and Showbie, that highlights the journey towards achieving the EHCP outcomes.

Explicitly Planned Opportunities – These opportunities are explicitly planned for and are a key aspect of our curriculum offer.

Evidence –
Evidence is gathered from a range of curricular opportunities, including formal learning and social times.

Skilfully Planned – Teachers planning allows for children to succeed in more than one lesson so that the skill becomes embedded.

Progress Sharing – Progress can be shared with families at EHCP reviews / parents’ evenings in an interactive way.

Family Contribution – Families can contribute to the process and add evidence from home.

A Meaningful Working Document –EHCPs are a meaningful, working document that all stakeholders contribute to and take ownership of.
